Local Challenges. Global Perspectives. Unified Solutions

We brainstorm with local communities to design self-sustaining solutions within their existing ecosystems

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower communities through financial investment, critical thinking, and upskilling. Our goal is to foster self-sufficiency, preserve culture and traditions, and support our leaders by being a bridge for generational change.

Our Thinking

Our Founder has immersed himself in underserved communities across the Americas, Europe, and Africa, serving in various roles at leading nonprofits in the United States.

Sustain is driven by the philosophies he acquired through his entrepreneurial ventures, travels, and, most importantly, interactions with local leaders in these underserved communities.

One key insight he gained is that most communities aspire to self-sufficiency. He also learned that addressing localized issues requires a global perspective but a local approach, and that impactful solutions must be personalized for long-term sustainability.

Our approach involves tackling the root causes of each issue, collaborating closely with a dedicated community team on the ground, and engaging a board of global experts committed to addressing the specific challenges of each community.

Kibera

Kibera, located in Nairobi, is one of Africa's largest and most densely populated informal settlements. Despite its vibrant culture and resilient community, Kibera faces significant challenges, including poverty, inadequate access to basic services like clean water and healthcare, and limited educational opportunities.

Sustain is dedicated to supporting the people of Kibera by providing essential services, promoting education, and empowering residents to build a better future for themselves and their families.

Access to Feminine Products

Access to Education

Lilian Khavere, a mother to a physically disabled child, faces challenges balancing caretaking and meeting her family's needs. Struggling with employment, she relies on her neighbors for support with rent and food for her other children.

Sustain assisted Lillian by providing several months' worth of groceries during a recent food drive and discussed strategies for achieving self-sufficiency. Hear Lillian's story below:
